Religion: The two largest religions in Ethiopia are Christianity and Islam. About 43.5% of the population is Ethiopian Orthodox Christian, 33.9% is Muslim, and 18.5% is Protestant Christian. There are also small groups of followers of Judaism and traditional African religions.

Culture: Ethiopian culture is a rich and diverse mix of influences from its different ethnic groups, as well as from its long history. Some of the most important aspects of Ethiopian culture include:

  • Music and dance: Ethiopian music and dance are known for their unique sound and style. The most famous Ethiopian instrument is the krar, a stringed instrument. Ethiopian dance is often accompanied by drumming and singing.
  • Food: Ethiopian food is known for its bold flavors and use of spices. Some of the most popular Ethiopian dishes include injera (a flatbread made from teff flour), wat (a stew made with meat or lentils), and doro wat (a chicken stew).
  • Art and literature: Ethiopian art and literature are rich and diverse. Some of the most famous Ethiopian artists include Afewerk Tekle and Tewodros Kassahun. Some of the most famous Ethiopian writers include Tsegaye Gabre-Medhin and Mahtem Shiferaw.
  • Language: The official language of Ethiopia is Amharic, but there are over 80 other languages spoken in the country. English is also widely spoken, especially in urban areas.
